Chen Ziqiang Interview

via Kung Fu magazine.

Hmm...

I'm a bit torn. Where on the one side, I admire his skill, I am also a bit taken by his lack of concern when he throws him on his head and doesn't check up on him. This is not a fight, no punches and kicks are being thrown. There just seems so little concern, other than, get it on tape that I can throw this guy around. I am absolutely of the mindset that the techniques must work and skill must be developed, but also, realize, this is martial art, you are practicing, concern for the other is also critical. You help each other, not just look to dominate the other. Especially, when health is concerned, especially if there is a likely concussion. I don't care how tough you are, trying to bully yourself through injury is stupid, long term problems are not worth the bravado.
